The health and wellness industry is currently one of the most successful industries, but this also means that this industry can become saturated with several businesses. The good news is that they’re many different sectors of health and wellness, but it’s still important to make sure that your business stands out from the competition. Here are the five best marketing strategies to promote your health and wellness business and other types of businesses.

1: Advertising (Print)

Also known as traditional marketing, print advertising use newspapers, magazines, and other print sources to promote a business. It’s one of the oldest forms of marketing, but it’s still effective to this day— especially if your health and wellness company is a physical location that serves your local community. Passing out flyers, buying a billboard ad, and taking out an ad in the newspaper are great ways to get the word out in your local community. Other forms of traditional, but not necessarily print, marketing include radio and television ads.

2: Content Marketing

Content marketing is a form of digital marketing (marketing done online) that involves the creation of content, as the name suggests. Photos and graphics (especially infographics) are two of the most common types of content, but videos and text are also common. This content is usually spread through social media channels and email, which are also forms of digital marketing.

Email marketing compiles a list of customers who have chosen to sign up for emails. You can send notifications about sales, new products, and/or services, and even request customer feedback. Social media marketing can advertise the same, just through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and more.

3: Google Ads

Google ads are ads on the search engine Google that appear at the top of searches related to your business. This is a form of PPC (or pay-per-click), in which you pay a publisher every time your ad is clicked on their website. Other examples of PPC that work similar to Google ads include:

  • Ad campaigns on Twitter (pay to post ads to the news feed of a specific audience)
  • Paid ads on Facebook (pay to show custom ads to a specific audience)
  • Sponsored messages on LinkedIn (paid messages to specific users)

Keep in mind that this isn’t necessarily an organic way to attract traffic to your website, but it is an effective way to drive traffic there. You only pay when someone clicks your ad, but if they don’t make a purchase from your website you could end up losing money.

4: Promotional Marketing

Promotional marketing involves placing your company name and logo on everyday and industry-specific items. The idea behind this strategy is that those who buy these promo items will advertise your company to those they come in contact with when they wear or use them. Examples of everyday promotional items include coffee mugs, T-shirts, phone cases, and keychains. When it comes to industry-specific promo items, promotional cooling towels are a good idea for health and wellness companies, and so are:

  • Blender and shaker bottles
  • Foam rollers
  • Water bottles
  • Yoga mats, straps, and blocks

Promotional items can be given away at business events like trade shows or as a part of an online giveaway. They can also be sold in your store (or online) alongside your other merchandise and/or services.

5: Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

As the name suggests, search engine optimization (SEO) also gets your company’s website to rank in the top slots on search engines. However, unlike PPC, SEO techniques don’t cost you any money (unless you hire an SEO firm to execute this for you)— and it drives traffic to your website organically. This way, you’re not charged when someone clicks on the link to your website, but because the user searches your website naturally they’re more likely to make a purchase.

SEO marketing and other forms of digital marketing require you to have a website in order for them to be effective. Even if your business operates fully in person, having a website is a great way for potential and existing customers to get information about your company.

All of these marketing strategies can work for any type of business, not just those in the health and wellness industry. Just make sure that when you’re ordering promotional items they’re either everyday items or items that are relevant to your business. Also, keep in mind that not all of these marketing strategies will be effective for all types of businesses, so it’s important to try different strategies to determine which one(s) will work best for your business.
